Video Essays
As part of Atopia’s research project we are producing a series of video essays addressing the issues that have inspired the project of Atopia, and have given it a sense of direction.
At the core of these issues lies Atopia’s idea of "not-belongin"g. How do we define the notions of “home” and “foreign-ness”? How do we relate to the politics of identity with a global perspective? How is the balance of multiplicity and tolerance?
Other important issues for Atopia surround the relationships of time and space and the poetics of speed. These are among the topics that will be investigated through the Video Essays. We wish to consider all these in the context of and through the works of film and video art.
Atopia's Video Essays will be a series of research-educational-documentary videos about the ideas that are at the crossroads of contemporary art and critical theory.
In the production of these video essays we will bring artists and scholars, artworks and audiovisual criticism into a dynamic interaction as an alternative method for conducting research and provoking new ideas.
